Trump takes aim at Carson
GOP front-runner Donald Trump is wasting no time attacking retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson after multiple polls reported Carson surging ahead of the billionaire businessman in Iowa.
Following polls from Quinnipiac and Bloomberg that showed Carson puling ahead, Trump questioned Carson’s energy and ability to lead the country.
{mosads}”Ben Carson is lower energy than Jeb if you want to know the truth,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I like Ben, but he can’t do what I can do with trade. He can’t do a lot of things like I can do.”
Trump also took aim at Carson on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla., this time bringing up religion. “I’m Presbyterian, boy that’s down the middle of the road in all fairness,” he said. “I mean Seventh-day Adventist I just don’t know about.”
Appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Trump wouldn’t apologize for the remarks, but rather repeated that Carson’s faith is completely unknown to him.
The business mogul also called out Carson for being weak on Second Amendment rights during a town hall meeting broadcast Monday on NBC’s “Today Show.”
A third poll, released Monday, showed Carson with a 14-point lead over Trump and the rest of the GOP field in Iowa.
