Clinton opens 2-to-1 lead over Sanders

Hillary Clinton now holds a 2-to-1 lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

{mosads}Clinton now has 62 percent support among primary voters, compared with 31 percent for Sanders. That represents a 4-point increase for Clinton and 2-point drop for Sanders since October.

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley draws 3 percent support in the latest poll.

An overwhelming percentage of Democrats, 84 percent, say they think Clinton will win the Democratic nomination.

Still, 47 percent of Americans overall have an unfavorable opinion of Clinton, compared to 40 percent who view her favorably in the poll.

A majority of registered voters, 53 percent, rate Clinton poorly on being honest and straightforward, while over a quarter, 27 percent, give her positive marks on that metric.

Clinton has solidified support among Democratic primary voters on the issue of Benghazi following her daylong testimony on Capitol Hill two weeks ago.

Fifty-eight percent of Democratic primary voters said they were satisfied with the former secretary of State’s response to questions about the attack before she testified, compared to 72 percent after.

The new poll of 1,000 adults was conducted Oct. 25 to Oct. 29 with an overall margin of error of 3.1 points. The survey of 400 Democratic primary voters has a margin of error of 4.9 points.
