GOP rep: Obama ‘rolling the dice’ on refugees
Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) is dismissing the notion that the Obama administration is thoroughly vetting Syrian refugees before letting them into the country.
“There’s virtually no vetting, because there are no databases in Syria, there are no government records,” King said on “Fox News Sunday.” “We don’t know who these people are.”
{mosads}He said President Obama is “rolling the dice” and may be unwittingly letting terrorists from the Islamic State in Syria (ISIS) into the country.
King, who sits on the House Committee on Homeland Security and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, called for the president to suspend his program to allow 10,000 refugees into the country over the next year.
“He should absolutely suspend it unless they can show 100 percent that a person is not involved with ISIS,” he said. “Right now there is no responsible way to do the vetting, and that’s the reality.”
“To me it’s as misguided as the president saying that he’s contained ISIS,” referring to the president’s remark just hours before ISIS struck Paris that the terror group is “contained.”
Several terrorists who attacked France on Friday are suspected of entering the country by posing as refugees.
At least 129 people were killed and hundreds wounded in the deadliest attack on France since World War II.
