Sanders ad pushes back on charge that he would be ineffective

Bernie Sanders will air two new ads beginning on Friday in the early-voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire touting his political experience in Vermont as well as his “effective” record in Congress.

Titling one of the ads “Effective,” the campaign directly pushes back at concerns that the Vermont senator’s more liberal policies would be dead-on-arrival in a GOP Congress.

{mosads}”Bernie Sanders passed more amendments in a Republican Congress than any other member … cracked the gridlock with [Arizona Republican Sen.] John MCCain to strengthen veteran’s healthcare,” the narrator says.

“Bernie Sanders: a consistent, principled, and effective leader.”

While the ad makes no mention of rival Hillary Clinton, it’s a rebuke to the suggestion that Clinton made during the first Democratic debate, when she told the audience that “I’m a progressive, but I’m a progressive that likes to get things done.”

Sanders’s camp has also repeatedly portrayed him as steadfast on issues, with the Independent repeatedly knocking Clinton for changing her stance on issues like gay marriage and the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.

The second ad, filmed in Vermont, praises Sanders as a “well-known friend of family farms,” a sentiment that could play well in Iowa, where there’s a healthy population of farmers.
