•The Glover Park Group has made three new hires. Joyce Brayboy, chief of staff to Rep. Mel Watt (D-N.C.), Peter Kauffman, a former U.S. Navy intelligence officer and press secretary for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), and Brenda O’Connor, previously vice president of public affairs for the American Insurance Association, have all joined the firm.
•Lindsey Dickinson, legislative counsel to Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), is joining Comcast Corporation as its senior director of federal government affairs. Dickinson was a Commerce Department official before working on Capitol Hill.
{mosads}•David A. Sampson has been named by the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America as its new president and chief executive officer. Sampson will leave his position as deputy secretary of the Commerce Department to join the trade group.
•Doug Wiley has been promoted to executive vice president of administration and agencies at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). Prior to joining NAB in April 2006, Wiley was with the Electronic Industries Alliance.
•Herman “Bubba” Gesser has been hired by Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrére & Denégre to work in its real estate and government-relations practice. Gesser was Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D-La.) chief counsel and projects director.
•Sydney McNiff Ferguson has joined the Carmen Group as the managing director of its energy practice. Ferguson previously was the senior vice president for government relations and corporate communications with USEC Inc., a uranium enrichment company.
•Jonathan Grella has left the public-relations firm Edelman to join Securing America’s Future Energy as its new senior vice president of communications and strategy.
•Anthony Bellotti is the new executive director of the American Association of Political Consultants. Bellotti co-founded the Humane Research Council, which consults for animal-protection organizations. He also was a marshal in the Republican National Committee’s get-out-the-vote effort for President Bush’s reelection campaign.
