Trump spokeswoman chalks up ‘pure breeds’ tweet to ‘silliness’
A Donald Trump spokeswoman is defending a tweet in which she asked if there were “any pure breeds left” in the U.S.
{mosads}CNN anchor Brian Stelter on Sunday asked Katrina Pierson if she would like to retract her statement after a 2012 tweet grabbed attention on Saturday.
“Perfect Obama’s dad born in Africa, Mitt Romney’s dad born in Mexico. Any pure breeds left?” Pierson tweeted in January 2012.

Pierson chalked the tweet up to “silliness.”
“Look, these tweets — I’m an activist, and I am a half-breed. I’m always getting called a half-breed, and on Twitter, when you’re fighting with Twitter and even establishment, you go back at them in the same silliness they’re giving you.”
“You’re telling me that was just silliness?” Shelter asked.
“Absolutely,” Pierson responded.
