Clyburn weighing SC endorsement
Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) says he is weighing an endorsement in the presidential race ahead of his state’s Democratic primary on Feb. 27.
“I’m going to spending this weekend with family and friends and come to some decision. I won’t be endorsing anybody before week’s end,” Clyburn said in an interview with The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper.
{mosads}The support of Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in the House and the dean of the South Carolina delegation, would be a coup for Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders as they battle for African American support in the crucial primary state.
Clyburn said there is a split in his family about whether to endorse Clinton or Sanders. He endorsed President Obama over Clinton in 2008.
