Kasich: ‘We don’t expect to win’ in South Carolina
Presidential hopeful John Kasich early Thursday said he does not expect to win the Feb. 20 South Carolina Republican primary.
{mosads}Asked to respond to an attack from primary rival Jeb Bush, who said the Ohio governor has “nothing” in the Palmetto State, Kasich said he was realistic about his chances.
“Well, yeah, we’re going to compete here,” he said on CNN’s “New Day.” “We don’t expect to win here.”
“But, on the other hand, if you take a look at the person that says that, they spent like well over $100 million, or something like that, and they’ve got, like, nothing,” he added, referring to Bush.
“I mean, you know, so I’m not worried about what the other folks say, and this is not the end of it for us here at South Carolina.”
Kasich finished a strong second place in the Feb. 9 New Hampshire primary. He currently places sixth in South Carolina with 2 percent support, according to a RealClearPolitics average poll.
