Scarborough: I’m not voting for Trump
Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” says he’s not voting for Donald Trump.
“Anybody who thinks I’m going to vote for Donald Trump in the Republican primary in my home state doesn’t know me very well,” the former GOP House member from Florida said, according to The Daily Beast.
{mosads}Scarborough said that while he and co-host Mika Brzezinski have had friendly on-air chats with Trump, that doesn’t mean they support him.
“I am transparent about my conversations with Donald Trump,” said Scarborough.
“We know Donald just like we know Lloyd Blankfein [CEO and chairman of Goldman Sachs] and Jamie Dimon [CEO, president and chairman of JPMorgan Chase] and about a thousand other influential people in New York City,” he said.
“But do we have a special relationship with Donald Trump?” Scarborough continued. “No. I have spent more time, one on one, talking with [President] Barack Obama in the Oval Office. I’ve had longer conversations with the president than I’ve ever had with Donald Trump.”
“I do think that these attacks are unfair,” added Brzezinski about criticism that they are too warm to Trump.
“I have never seen any relationship that he has with any politician on the left or the right get in the way of him being able to offer accurate predictions, ever,” she said of Scarborough.
“Morning Joe” is moderating a town hall Wednesday night featuring Trump, a move that has raised eyebrows.
The event will air at the same time that rival network CNN hosts a town hall with several of Trump’s GOP rivals, including retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson and Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
