Lawmaker says 2016 is an outsider’s year
The Republican establishment is scrambling to keep front-runner Donald Trump from winning the party’s presidential nomination, but Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) says this year’s election will be won by an outsider.
{mosads}”I think at this stage it’s safe to say it’s going to be an outsider,” Blackburn told The Hill at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in the Washington area. “It’s not going to be a typical, expected Republican.”
Blackburn also pointed out both Trump and rival candidate Ted Cruz are helping to expand the party’s base, bringing in new Republican voters.
