27 Dems who haven’t endorsed Clinton or Sanders

Twenty-seven Democratic lawmakers have yet to endorse either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders for president.

Clinton has already tallied 201 endorsements, well above the 99 she received in her failed 2008 bid. Her tally this cycle also dwarfs rival Sanders’s five endorsements.

Pressure is building on Democrats to rally behind their party’s front-runner after her strong Super Tuesday showing, but 22 House members and five senators are holding back.

{mosads}That includes two who backed Clinton in her 2008 presidential bid, Rep. Albio Sires (N.J.) and Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.).

Rep. Peter DeFazio (Ore.) backed then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) over then-Sen. Clinton (D-N.Y.) in 2008.

One candidate, freshman Rep. Gwen Graham (Fla.), had the support of Bill and Hillary Clinton in her 2014 House race. Graham, though, faces a tough reelection race this year.

And while Clinton has wracked up strong support from Hispanic and black lawmakers, including the Congressional Hispanic Caucus’s and Congressional Black Caucus’s respective PACs, some of their members have yet to announce their support.

Two members of the Hispanic Caucus, Reps. Sires and Norma Torres (Calif.), haven’t endorsed yet.

Black Caucus members Reps. Sanford Bishop (Ga.) and Barbara Lee (Calif.) also have not officially endorsed. Lee was a vocal critic of the Iraq War resolution in 2002 and voted against the measure, unlike Clinton, something Sanders has repeatedly criticized her for on the campaign trail.

Included in the list is House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), who has praised Clinton and is all but certain to back her.

Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) — King caucuses with Democrats in the Senate.

Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.)* — Menendez supported Clinton in 2008.
