Sanders supporter denies throwing Nazi salute at Trump rally

The Sanders supporter accused of raising her hand in what looked like a Nazi salute during a Donald Trump rally in Chicago said the Internet has it wrong.

{mosads}Rumors circulated online that Boulgar, a Sanders volunteer, staged the salute to stir up anti-Trump sentiments and violence. Donald Trump Jr., in a tweet that has since been deleted, furthered this theory, writing: “She runs Bernie Sander’s Bernie for women site. It’s all staged.”

In a telephone interview with The Washington Post, Bouglar, 63, said that she isn’t the woman in the photo that went viral following the Chicago rally that was called off due to huge protests.

The Chicago Tribune identified the woman in the photo as Birgitt Peterson, but Bouglar said she is being attacked with hate language on social media, The Washington Post reported.

“I think it is very sad when people choose hate over love and understanding,” she said. “I will not be moved. I support Bernie Sanders, and will not get off message. I’m busy getting out the vote to make sure he wins in Ohio.”
