Carson defends Andrew Jackson, calls for ‘another way’ to honor Tubman

Ben Carson criticized the decision to replace former President Andrew Jackson with Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill on Wednesday, saying Jackson was a “tremendous president.”

“I love Harriet Tubman. I love what she did. But we can find another way to honor her,” the former presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon said. “Maybe a $2 bill.”

{mosads}Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced the move Wednesday, which included keeping Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill and adding the images of civil rights leaders to the $5 bill. Critics of Jackson have called for his image to be removed from U.S. currency because of his treatment of Native Americans.
