Sanders links Clinton, Trump in fundraising pitch

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders linked rival Hillary Clinton and Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump in a fundraising email on Tuesday, sending supporters a photo of the two together.

“Donald Trump and the one candidate in this race he said would make a ‘great president,’ ” the caption reads.

{mosads}The email, penned by Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver, lashed out at the Clinton campaign for seeking to tie the Vermont senator to Trump.

“They’ve used language reserved for traitors to our country, saying we are ‘giving aid and comfort’ to Trump,” Weaver wrote. “They are emailing supporters with the subject line ‘What Trump loves about Bernie.’ Let me be clear, there is one candidate in this Democratic primary who Donald Trump said would make a ‘great president,’ and it’s not Bernie Sanders.”

The photo was taken at Trump’s 2005 wedding to his wife, Melania.
