New regs for Wednesday: Fire safety, efficiency, guns
Wednesday’s edition of the Federal Register contains new efficiency standards, fire safety procedures for hospitals and rules for gun silencers.
{mosads}Here’s what is happening:
Guns: The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is considering new rules for gun silencers.
The ATF issued an advance notice of proposed rulemaking Tuesday as it considers whether to establish new marking requirements for firearm silencers and mufflers.
The public has 90 days to comment.
Hospitals: The Department of Health and Human Services is moving forward with new fire safety standards for hospitals and other healthcare facilities that participate in Medicare and Medicaid.
The new rules will update the existing fire safety standards.
They go into effect on July 5.
Efficiency: The Department of Energy is delaying new efficiency rules for commercial package boilers.
The Energy Department’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy proposed new energy conservation standards for these appliances in March but is now extending the comment period to give the public more time to consider the changes.
The public has until June 22 to comment.
