Trump mocks Sasse: ‘Yes, he’s a real genius’

Donald Trump blasted Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) on Thursday for calling for a third-party candidate in order to block the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, saying that doing so would put the Supreme Court in jeopardy of swinging to the left.

{mosads}In an interview with Fox News’s “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Trump was asked about Sasse’s proposal.

“Yes, he’s a real genius,” Trump said sarcastically. “So let’s say you get somebody to run. That means the Republican can’t win. Now you have four to five Supreme Court justices that will be picked by Hillary Clinton or whoever it is, but probably Hillary. Bernie [Sanders] even worse.”

Trump added that he is planning on releasing a list of 10–15 possible nominees to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. He also revealed that he had consulted with the Heritage Foundation on filling the court.

“These are conservative judges who would be great judges,” he said.
