White nationalist delegate praises Trump as the ‘real deal’

The white nationalist mistakenly selected by Donald Trump’s campaign as a California delegate is praising the presumptive GOP presidential nominee as the “real deal” and a “refreshing change” to politics.

{mosads}“Mr. Trump is the real deal,” William Johnson said in an interview with CNN’s “The Lead” on Wednesday. “He will not govern by public opinion polls. He says what’s on his mind.

“This is kind of like what [former Texas Rep.] Ron Paul did; this is what [Democratic presidential candidate] Bernie Sanders is doing; and that’s a refreshing change from the politicians that we’ve had for many decades,” he continued. “That is probably the best thing about him and what endears him to most people in general.”

In the interview, Johnson also laid out his views on race, saying he is worried white people are being replaced in Western countries and that whites are afraid to celebrate their heritage for fear of being called racist.

“I believe that Western civilization is declining and dying out in every country around the world that has traditionally been white,” he said. “Europe is being replaced by immigrants from Africa. America — the same thing is happening here. So I believe that we need to be aware of the precipitous decline in the white race, and I think it’s good for people to be proud of your heritage, whatever heritage that might be, but particularly for white people because the whites now are so afraid to be proud of their heritage because they’re called bad names if they are.”

He said that while Trump must lead “all peoples” as president, Johnson would continue to advocate for the white race.

Mother Jones reported on Tuesday that Johnson was among the delegates selected by the Trump campaign in California.

Hope Hicks, a campaign spokeswoman, initially told The Hill that the report was false. Later, she said Johnson was chosen because of a “database error” by the California secretary of State. The campaign’s California director, Tim Clark, later admitted that the delegates list they submitted on Monday included Johnson’s name.
