Poll: Clinton leads Sanders by 14 in NJ

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton leads rival Bernie Sanders by 14 points in New Jersey, a poll released Thursday found.

And both Democrats have an edge in the Garden State over presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

{mosads}Clinton takes 54 percent support among likely voters in New Jersey’s Democratic primary, with Sanders at 40 percent.

In a head-to-head matchup, Clinton leads Trump, 45 percent to 38 percent. Sanders holds a slightly larger lead over Trump, 49 percent to 37 percent.

In the Clinton-Trump match-up, Trump leads among men, 46 percent to 36 percent, but Clinton leads among women, 53 percent to 32 percent.

Trump also leads among white voters, 48 percent to 36 percent, but Clinton holds a substantial lead among black voters, 84 percent to 3 percent.

Clinton also leads among all age groups except for voters older than 65.

Still, both Trump and Clinton have low favorability ratings. Clinton is viewed favorably by 38 percent of respondents and unfavorably by 56 percent. Trump is viewed favorably by 35 percent and unfavorably by 58 percent.

The poll was conducted May 10-16 among 1,989 New Jersey voters. The margin of error is 2.2 percent. The survey included 696 likely Democratic primary voters. The margin of error for that sample is 3.7 percent.

According to the RealClearPolitics average of polls in New Jersey, Clinton holds a 17-point lead over Sanders, 55 percent to 38 percent.
