Roger Stone looking into creating pro-Trump nonprofit: report

A prominent Donald Trump supporter is working to create a nonprofit group to bolster the presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s campaign, according to BuzzFeed.

{mosads}Roger Stone, a former surrogate for the campaign, told the site he is creating a 527 group — an organization that is classified as a charity but can use its funds to support political causes and campaigns.

Like a super-PAC, 527 groups can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money. Unlike super-PACs, though, they do not have to disclose their donors to the Federal Elections Commission and instead report to the Internal Revenue Service.

The business mogul’s campaign has lacked the financial support from outside groups that may prove crucial for the general election. One super-PAC supporting Trump, Great America PAC, has already reported that it is hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.
