Obama explains why he avoids using Trump’s name

President Obama doesn’t mention Donald Trump by name because he doesn’t want to advertise for him.

{mosads}”You know, he seems to do a good job mentioning his own name,” Obama said in an interview with PBS’s Gwen Ifill to air Wednesday night.

“So, you know, I figured I’ll let him do his advertising for him.”

Obama has been a critic of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee throughout the election season and has criticized the media for leading to his rise through over-coverage.

Obama did the interview while in Elkhart, Ind., where he spoke about the economy and warned against electing a Republican president.

“If what you really care about in this election is your pocketbook, if what you’re concerned about is who will look out for the interests of working people and grow the middle class, then the debate isn’t even close,” he said.

In the PBS interview, Obama said people who vote for Trump may not feel like they have fully recovered from the recession.

“Even though we have recovered, people feel like the ground under their feet isn’t quite as solid. And in those circumstances a lot of times it is easy for someone to come up and say, ‘You know what, if we deport all the immigrants and build a wall, or if we cut off trade with China, or if we do X or Y or Z,’ that there is some simple answer and suddenly we are going to feel secure,” he said.
