Trump to huddle with House GOP

Donald Trump will huddle with House Republicans on July 7, two weeks before the billionaire accepts the GOP’s presidential nomination.

The meeting was announced to lawmakers Tuesday morning by House GOP Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), who was part of the GOP leadership team that met with Trump last month on Capitol Hill.

{mosads}”The chairwoman announced to Members at the morning’s Conference that on July 7th they will have the chance to meet with Mr. Trump; share their policy priorities, learn about his plans to unite the party; and get details about his plans to move America forward,” said a GOP aide.

Organizers are still determining a location.

It’s customary for the presumptive GOP presidential nominee to meet with lawmakers from the party in an election year. But it could be an awkward gathering: Trump has come under fire from many Republicans on Capitol Hill for launching racial attacks on a Mexican-American federal judge who’s presiding over a fraud case against Trump University.

And the candidate put Republicans in a tough spot after saying this week that President Obama should resign over his handling of the Orlando massacre and raising questions about why Obama refuses to say the words “radical Islamic terrorism.”

“There’s something going on,” Trump said Monday.
