The U.S. Air Force is apologizing to former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter for a Facebook post.
According to The Associated Press, Jeter was stopped by security services on the Fourth of July and issued a $250 ticket and a $30 processing fee for boating in a restricted area near MacDill Air Force Base near Tampa, Fla.
{mosads}An active duty service member posted a photo of the citation on Facebook.
“This action is totally inconsistent with Air Force values and the responsible airman will face the appropriate disciplinary action,” MacDill spokesman Terry Montrose said in a news release, according to the AP. “We sincerely apologize to Mr. Jeter for any inconvenience.”
The Tampa Bay Times reported that the since-deleted post included the caption, “On behalf of the Boston Red Sox, here is your ticket Derek Jeter.”
