17K names in leaked DNC database appear to be ticket purchases

The 17,000 names leaked after a hack of Democratic National Convention documents appear to largely belong to people who purchased tickets to DNC events, many of the listed donors have confirmed.

The database includes names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers. The hacker claiming credit, who goes by Guccifer 2.0, posted it and other documents to his blog last night.

{mosads}In addition to the personal information, the database lists “Amount,” which appears to be the ticket cost, “Source,” which appears to be an acronym for the event attended and “Surrogate,” which appears to be the speaker. Many of the events list “POTUS” or “VPOTUS” as the surrogate.  

“When things like this happen, they are going to be losing support. I’m not going to be buying any more tickets,” said Cathy Southwick, who had purchased a ticket to see President Obama speak in Texas. “There should be much better safeguards in place. “

The database dates back to 2013.

The DNC has not responded to a request for comment about the list.
