Travelers pick Trump as top vacation companion
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump tops a list of presidential candidates voters would like to vacation with, according to a new poll.
{mosads}Thirty-nine percent of respondents in a HomeToGo survey released Tuesday picked the billionaire as a travel companion.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton trailed Trump at 33 percent.
Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson was the preferred choice for 16 percent of travelers, pollsters found, while 12 percent would go on vacation with Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
HomeToGo also found that only 30 percent of female voters would vacation with Trump, while about 1 in 5 men would vacation with Clinton.
The poll’s results, however, do not necessarily reflect respondents’ voting preferences.
Only 23 percent of respondents said they would vacation with a candidate because they’re planning to vote for them, and only 10 percent said they would make their selection because they like the candidate.
Others said they would vacation with the candidate out of curiosity, at 19 percent, or because they found them entertaining, at 16 percent.
HomeToGo, a vacation rental search engine, surveyed 750 potential voters between July 29 and Aug. 1. Its poll has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.
