Clinton launches Spanish-language TV ads
Hillary Clinton on Wednesday released new Spanish-language ads, using a former Bush official to warn about the dangers of electing Donald Trump to the White House.
{mosads}One ad, titled “Country First,” features Carlos Gutierrez, a former secretary of Commerce under President George W. Bush.
In the ad, Gutierrez says he has been a Republican his whole life, but he is “an American first.”
“Donald Trump doesn’t have the qualities necessary to be president. I know, because I served in the Cabinet of George W. Bush for four years,” Gutierrez says in Spanish, according to The Washington Post.
“I was born in Cuba, but this country gave me my success. I’ve been a Republican my entire life, but first I’m an American. Vote for Trump? I can’t. It’s dangerous and we don’t want to go back. Hillary Clinton has the experience and I trust her. For me, country first, and then party.”
The ad will air in Miami.
Another ad, titled “Real Strength,” highlights Clinton’s record of fighting for families. It draws a distinction between the Democratic presidential nominee’s history and that of Trump, the Republican nominee.
“Because he shouts insults, Trump thinks he has real strength,” the narrator says, before the ad shows a clip of Trump saying Mexican immigrants are “bringing crime; they’re rapists.”
“But Hillary Clinton understands that real strength is revealed in what you do for others,” the narrator continues.
“A life of work — that’s where you find real strength.”
That ad will air in the Orlando, Tampa and West Palm Beach markets in Florida and the Las Vegas and Reno markets in Nevada.
The Clinton campaign earlier this summer released another Spanish ad.
Clinton has a significant lead over Trump among Hispanic voters.
