Clinton devours Trump in cookie recipe contest
Hillary Clinton is the winner by a landslide — in a cookie recipe contest.
{mosads}The Democratic presidential nominee’s family’s chocolate chip oatmeal cookies bested the recipe for star-shaped goodies submitted by Republican nominee Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, for Family Circle magazine’s long-running presidential cookie poll.
Clinton’s cookies took the top spot in an overwhelming victory announced Friday. The chocolate chip-filled treats snagged more than 1,600 votes on Facebook, while Trump’s starry sugar cookie snacks received just 535 votes.
Recipes for both cookies are still available at Family Circle.
Family Circle says the poll has correctly predicted who would go on to live in the White House five out of the past six election cycles.
Critics have long pounced on the quadrennial bake-off between White House hopefuls’ spouses as sexist. Clinton’s recipe this year was technically submitted by the Clinton family, although it’s the same one the former secretary of State offered up for the contest when it first began in 1992. The baking contest began after then-first lady Hillary Clinton said: “I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was to fulfill my profession, which I entered before my husband was in public life.”
