Cooper, Griffin teaming up again for CNN New Year’s Eve coverage

Anderson Cooper will be teaming up again with comedian Kathy Griffin to co-host CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage from New York City.

The pairing will mark the 10th year Cooper and Griffin have co-hosted the CNN special.

The duo — which usually makes news when Griffin does or says something provocative during their four-plus hours from the middle of Times Square — has performed well in the past from a ratings perspective.

{mosads}In 2015, CNN beat Fox News on New Year’s Eve despite the latter having then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and his family as guests.

In addition to Cooper and Griffin this year, CNN’s Richard Quest will be reporting from the ground in Times Square. Sara Sidner will also be in Nashville, Gary Tuchman will report from Miami Beach, and Randi Kaye will be interviewing passengers on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.

At 12:30 a.m. EST on Jan. 1, Cooper and Griffin will pass the broadcast baton to Don Lemon and Brooke Baldwin, who will continue coverage from New Orleans, which is one hour behind New York in Central Standard Time.

Coverage on CNN will begin at 8:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

“I’m just dreading New Year’s Eve already,” Cooper joked on the “Steve Harvey Show” on Dec. 5 during an appearance with Griffin.
