‘Hollyweed’? Vandals strike famous ‘Hollywood’ sign
An unidentified vandal changed the iconic “Hollywood” sign to read as “Hollyweed,” several news outlets reported Sunday.
A vandal scaled the mountain in Hollywood, Calif. where the sign sits late on New Year’s Eve, police told CBS Los Angeles.

In November, California voters legalized the recreational use of marijuana.
Though visitors can hike up to the Hollywood sign, it is guarded by several fences and visitors are not allowed to touch it.
The sign was similarly vandalized in 1983, the Los Angeles Times’ Shelby Grand reported on Twitter.
