Labor pick tweets about hearing after report ‘he may be bailing’
Andy Puzder, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Labor Department, tweeted Monday evening that he’s “looking forward” to his confirmation hearing, after a report he’s having second thoughts about serving in the administration.
{mosads}CNN reported Monday evening that the Hardees and Carl’s Jr. CEO was reconsidering his nomination because of harsh criticism from Democrats, unions and liberal groups.
“He may be bailing,” a Republican source told CNN. “He is not into the pounding he is taking, and the paperwork.”
Shortly after CNN published its story, Puzder tweeted that he was “looking forward to my hearing.”
I am looking forward to my hearing.

He was tentatively set to appear before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Tuesday, but ran into a scheduling conflict with Education pick Betsy DeVos. “Because of the complicated Senate calendar in January, the hearing may not be until February,” the committee said last week.
Fast food workers at restaurants owned by the Labor secretary nominee protested last week at Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s restaurants in more than two dozen cities.
Protestors are labeling Puzder the “CEO of the rigged economy” and say “he makes more in one week than he pays his minimum wage workers in one year.”
Puzder’s confirmation hearing is expected to be lively, with Democrats and labor unions eager to paint him as harmful to the American workers he is supposed to protect.
