WATCH: Lawmakers in both parties slam Obama commutation on Manning

A handful of senators denounce President Obama’s decision to commute the sentence of former Army soldier Chelsea Manning, who was convicted in 2013 for leaking classified information to Wikileaks.

{mosads}Obama “stabbed the American people in the back by pardoning a traitor,” Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) told The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper.

Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) said he is “very disappointed” because “leaking of classified materials is a very serious offense, one that I take very seriously.”

Sens. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) joined Peters in criticizing President Obama’s move, with Sullivan calling it “outrageous.”
