Google hiring head of Republican political advertising

Google is hiring a head of Republican political advertising, according to a recent job posting.

The job posting, reported by Recode, says the winning candidate will lead and coach “an account team that uses consultative skills to collaborate with candidates, political action committees and advocacy groups to persuade voters and legislators.”

“You also work with the Government & Advocacy leadership team to set strategic objectives and run the day-to-day operations for the business,” the job posting says.

“You have a wealth of experience with Republican campaigns and have strong relationships with GOP campaign managers, pollsters and general consultants. Additionally, you believe political advertising wins campaigns and have a passion for the power of digital advertising.”

{mosads}In December, Google posted another job opening related to “conservative outreach.” The previous position, which was reportedly not new to the company, was described as “Google’s liaison to conservative, libertarian and free market groups.”

Max Pappas, a former aide to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), filled the position, according to Politico.

Earlier this year, the executive chairman of Alphabet, Google’s parent company, told employees that President Trump’s White House would do “evil things” to push its economic growth agenda.

“I think at the end of the day, they are going to do these evil things as they’ve done in the immigration area and perhaps some others, but the core focus is going to be to get the growth rate in the country — which is roughly 1 and a half to 2 percent — up another point by simply pushing through increases in federal spending and overcoming the tea party,” Eric Schmidt, who was previously Google’s CEO, said during a weekly meeting at the company’s headquarters in January.
