WATCH: GOP rep warns – ObamaCare bill like 2012 fiscal cliff fight

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) says GOP leaders are “papering over the vote deficit” they are facing in trying to pass their ObamaCare replacement bill.

Calling the bill “dead on arrival” in the House and “dead as a doornail” in the Senate, Massie said leadership’s management of the healthcare fight reminds him of the push to avert the fiscal cliff in 2012.

In an interview with The Hill, Massie recalled that then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said on television at the time that a majority of the House would support a bill to prevent the fiscal cliff, hours before Republican leaders pulled the measure from floor consideration.

“I was sitting in Jim Jordan’s office watching [Cantor] on TV and we had a list of the votes he had, and we knew he didn’t have the votes,” Massie said.

“You could see the same thing happen here if they keep papering over the vote deficit we’re facing right now.”
