High drama for GOP lawmakers on healthcare vote
The GOP’s ObamaCare repeal plan is causing high drama in the House, where leadership and the White House are furiously whipping votes for the bill and trying to figure out a vote schedule.
{mosads}Freshman Rep. Francis Rooney (R-Fla.) tells The Hill that he “can feel an atmosphere of nervousness. … This week has been building to [a] crescendo.”
Rep. Robert Pittenger (R-N.C.) called it a “watershed” moment for President Trump, noting that failure would damage the new president but passing the bill “allows him to move forward with tax reform, with financial regulation reforms and infrastructure.”
“He is a master negotiator,” Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) said of Trump, “and I think If there’s ever been a president that has the ability to do this, he can do it. And I don’t think he’s giving up.”
