Sunday shows preview: McMaster hits circuit for second straight week

President Trump’s national security adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster is hitting the Sunday show circuit for the second week straight.

McMaster will appear on ABC’s “This Week” following the U.S. military’s Thursday strike on ISIS tunnels in northeastern Afghanistan. Last week he sat down for an interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

The latest Sunday shows cap off a week of national security developments, including the U.S. dropping for the first time ever in combat a Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB), known as the “mother of all bombs,” in Afghanistan, as well as North Korea’s failed attempt to launch a missile early Sunday.

This week’s shows will feature other top White House national security officials, including McMaster’s deputy, K.T. McFarland, and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly.

McFarland was expected to leave her position soon amid reports she would be nominated to be U.S. ambassador to Singapore. 

Here is the full lineup: 

ABC’s “This Week”: McMaster will appear on the show.

NBC’s “Meet the Press”: Kelly will be on the show, in addition to Sens. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.).

“Fox News Sunday”: McFarland, who will reportedly leave her role in the West Wing to be the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, will be on the show. Rep Mac Thornberry (R-Texas), who chairs the House Armed Services Committee, will also appear.

CBS’s “Face the Nation”: This week’s show will include a panel with two former White House chiefs of staff: Denis McDonough, who served under President Barack Obama, and Ken Duberstein, who served under President Ronald Reagan.

CNN’s “State of the Union”: Rep. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, will be on CNN, as will Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).
