Tillerson: US takes ‘full responsibility’ for Manchester leaks

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Friday said the U.S. government has taken responsibility for leaks about the investigation into Monday’s terror attack in Manchester, England.

“We take full responsibility for that and we obviously regret that that happened,” Tillerson said, appearing alongside British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson in London.

The British government reportedly resumed intelligence sharing with the U.S. after briefly suspending it due to a string of leaks to the U.S. media about the investigation.

“With respect to the release of information inappropriately … certainly we condemn that,” Tillerson said.

{mosads}Tillerson is on his first trip to London as secretary of State, where he signed a book of condolences for victims of the Manchester bombing, in which 22 people were killed at an Ariana Grande concert.

President Trump met with British Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday at a NATO summit in Brussels, where he called for an investigation into the “deeply troubling” leaks.

News of the leaks follow reports that Trump revealed highly classified information to two top Russian officials in the Oval Office, prompting Israel to change its intelligence sharing protocols with the U.S.
