The acting U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom praised the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, for his response to this weekend’s terrorist attack, after President Trump criticized Khan on Twitter.
“The response from emergency services, law enforcement and officials in [London] – as well as ordinary Londoners – has been extraordinary,” Ambassador Lewis Lukens wrote.

Earlier Sunday, Trump criticized Khan for his comments following the weekend attack that killed at least seven people and wounded dozens more.

Trump appeared to be referencing Khan’s comments earlier in the day in which he said there was no reason to worry about the increased police presence in London.
“Londoners will see an increased police presence today and over the course of the next few days,” Khan said in a statement given to the BBC.
