DNC launches ‘Obama’ tv ad in NY-20

The Democratic National Committee is launching a TV ad Friday in the special election for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-N.Y.) former House seat.

The message of the ad is summed up in its title: “Obama supports Murphy.”

“In the worst recession in a generation, upstate New Yorkers deserve someone with the right skills to represent them in Washington,” the narrator says. “That’s why President Obama is supporting Scott Murphy (D) for Congress.”

The ad is the latest effort by national Democrats to get involved in the race, which pits Murphy against Republican New York Assemblyman Jim Tedisco. Earlier today, the campaign released a radio ad that Vice President Joe Biden cut. Yesterday, Obama endorsed Murphy and emailed supporters for contributions.
