Cars were torched and police were attacked by Molotov cocktails only a few yards away from the G20 summit where President Trump is meeting with foreign leaders on Saturday.

For the second night in a row, there were riots and looting on the streets of Hamburg, Germany during the gathering of world leaders there.

The protesters are described as “leftist” and “anti-capitalist.” Although some protests seemed particularly critical of Trump, experts indicate protesters’ anger is directed generally at all authority figures.

Protesters were armed with slingshots, iron rods and firebombs and were using them on police Saturday, according to the Associated Press.

Observers estimated 10,000 protesters were on the streets Friday, and cable news streamed live video of police in riot gear hitting protesters with water cannons and dragging them from smoke-filled streets.

Nearly 200 police officers were injured during protests, according to reports. Local police called in reinforcements to join 20,000 officers already deployed on the streets of Hamburg.

First Lady Melania Trump was unable to leave her residence on Friday morning because of protests and missed at least one meeting.

Some protests remained peaceful and not all protesters were united in their causes, which also reportedly included anti-globalization.

Other protests included a group resembling zombies in grey clay making a statement on political apathy and the “destructive impact of capitalism.”

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is set to speak at a rally for human rights and democracy in Hamburg on Saturday.
