Conservative groups plan protest at CNN headquarters

Two conservative groups plan to protest CNN at the network’s Atlanta headquarters on Saturday.

The protest comes as President Trump regularly attacks the network and its reporting.

The Media Equality Project (MEP), a group created to counteract criticism of conservative figures, said in a press release it would hold a demonstration aimed at combatting CNN’s “obsessive focus with conspiracy theories that have been debunked and stories based on discredited sources.”

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that MEP reached out to the founder of the Main Street Patriots, an Atlanta-based Tea Party activist group, to help promote the event.

{mosads}“For too long, CNN has been allowed to warp, misrepresent and outright manufacture news events out of thin air. Real damage has been done to the targets of CNN’s misreporting, not to mention the country as a whole,” MEP co-founder Brian Maloney said in the press release.

News of the demonstration comes as Trump ratchets up his attacks on the cable network.

The president has referred to the network at “fake news” and “fraud news,” while White House aides Kellyanne Conway and Sebastian Gorka have ripped CNN during appearances on the network.

Trump tweeted out a professional wrestling video in July of him beating up a man with a CNN logo superimposed over his face.

CNN President Jeff Zucker hit back in Trump in July, telling The New York Times the network would not let the president intimidate its employees.

“He’s trying to bully us, and we’re not going to let him intimidate us. You can’t lose your confidence and let that change the way you conduct yourselves,” he said.
