Axelrod bashes NYT for ‘snide’ editorial on Sean Spicer

David Axelrod, a former adviser to President Obama, bashed The New York Times for its “snide” editorial on Sean Spicer’s resignation in a tweet on Saturday. 

“Snide editorial on [Spicer] beneath [NYT],” he said. “Criticisms are fair but snarkiness makes it read like a hissy fit.”

The editorial, written by The New York Times’s editorial board, chided the former press secretary for his treatment of the press and controversial statements, using Spicer’s own words against him. {mosads}

“Oh Spicey, you lasted six months and a day. Or are those ‘inaccurate numbers’?” it asked, in a reference to Spicer’s misstatement about the size of crowds at President Trump’s inauguration.

“You were not loved by reporters,” the board wrote, criticizing Spicer for the White House’s decision to ban news outlets from recording live audio or video of the daily press briefings.

“From the beginning, when an apprehensive America wondered what was ahead, you stood behind the lectern at the White House and lied,” the paper concluded. “Even though lots of people do it now, you were a trailblazer, and nobody can take that away from you.”
