Ivanka Trump praises Boston counterprotesters

President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump voiced her praise for counterprotesters in Boston on Saturday and called for national unity amid simmering racial tensions across the U.S.

“It was beautiful to see thousands of people across the U.S.A come together today to peacefully denounce bigotry, racism & anti-Semitism. We must continue to come together, united as Americans!” Trump tweeted late Saturday.

The first daughter’s comments come after thousands of counterprotesters marched in Boston on Saturday in response to a conservative free speech rally, which disbanded within less than an hour.

The protests were largely peaceful.

Ivanka Trump, who converted to Judaism when she married Jared Kushner, has remained silent this week after her father became the subject of controversy for saying there was blame on “both sides” during the violent events at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va.

The rabbi who oversaw the first daughter’s religious conversion even blasted the president’s response to the violence, which led to the death of one counterprotester, in a letter to his congregation.

Ivanka Trump tweeted a response to the Charlottesville violence and condemned “racism, white supremacy, and neo-Nazis.”
