Tracking: Obama’s Approval Takes Slight Dip
President Barack Obama’s job approval ratings have taken a slight dip in the last month and the percentage of Americans that disapprove of his performance has doubled, according to a new Gallup poll.
But, in spite of the increase in those that disapprove of his performance, Obama continues to have strong numbers, with 63 percent approving of her performance. That number represented a slight dip from January, when Obama was inaugurated and his approval was at 68 percent.
Meanwhile, more Republicans who at first had no opinion on Obama’s performance now disapprove of it, causing the rise in his disaspproval number, according to Gallup. Twenty-four percent now disapprove of Obama’s performance, up from 12 percent a month ago. In particular, conservative Republicans now approve of his performance far less than they did a month ago.
Gallup also provides this handy chart comparing presidential approval levels at this point for previous administrations, which shows that Obama’s number fit in the middle of how previous presidents fared one month into their tenure.
