Tom Brokaw calls Trump’s attacks on media a ‘cheap shot’
Legendary NBC broadcaster Tom Brokaw blasted President Trump’s criticism of the news media on Thursday, firing back after Trump questioned at a rally earlier this week whether members of the press liked the country.
“Mr president, i’ve been a journalist 50 yrs. Never met one who didn’t love USA. Many risk their lives reporting on US values,” Brokow wrote on Twitter, adding, “Cheap shot.”

Trump railed against the media on Tuesday for coverage of his response to white nationalist violence in Charlottesville, Va., earlier this month that left one dead and dozens injured.
“I really think they don’t like our country. I really believe that,” Trump said of members of the media during his rally in Phoenix.
Trump faulted the press for focusing on his previous statements that “many sides” and “both sides” were responsible for the violence in Virginia.
“These were my exact words — ‘I love all the people of our country. We are going to make America great again. But we are going to make it a great for all of the people of the United States of America,’ ” Trump said on Tuesday. “And then they say, ‘Is he a racist?’ ”
“You know where my heart is,” Trump added. “I’m really doing this to show you how damned dishonest these people are.”
