Meghan McCain rips report Trump is physically mocking her father
Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) daughter Meghan McCain lashed out on Wednesday over a report that President Trump has been “physically mocking” her father behind closed doors, calling it “abhorrent.”
“What more must my family be put through right now? This is abhorrent,” she tweeted, linking to the report.

Axios reporter Mike Allen wrote in his Wednesday newsletter that in private meetings, Trump has been “physically mocking” McCain by imitating the “thumbs down” gesture he made on the Senate floor last month before voting against the GOP’s ObamaCare repeal-and-replace plan.
{mosads}Allen also reported that Trump has been making fun of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky) posture and body language.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
McCain was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year and cannot lift his arms above his shoulders because of injuries he suffered as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, difficulties implied in his daughter’s tweet.
Two sources present for Trump’s meeting with conservative leaders at the White House on Monday said the president was venting his frustration with McCain, who has consistently criticized Trump and twice contributed to killing GOP health-care reform proposals.
The sources confirmed that in the Monday meeting Trump mentioned McCain’s “thumbs down” vote but said he did not physically mock or imitate the gesture.
