Comey tweets quote about ‘man’s inclination to injustice’ after Manafort indictment
Former FBI Director James Comey made a rare Twitter comment Monday in a possible response to the indictments against former Trump campaign officials in the special counsel’s Russia investigation.
Comey goes by “Reinhold Niebuhr” on Twitter, the name of an American theologian about whom he wrote his thesis. President Trump fired Comey in May, later telling NBC News that the Russia probe was part of his reason for doing so.
Monday, special counsel Robert Mueller’s team announced the first charges from his investigation.
“Man’s capacity for justice makes democracy possible, but man’s inclination to injustice makes democracy necessary.” Reinhold Niebuhr

{mosads}The cryptic tweet comes as Paul Manafort and Richard Gates, former Trump campaign officials, enter not guilty pleas in the indictments against them, which include conspiracy and failure to register as foreign agents.
It was also revealed Monday that former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty earlier this month to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia.
Comey’s Twitter identity was confirmed earlier this month, and the former director has been tweeting more frequently, though he has yet to add a profile picture.
