Russia: Possible Trump-Putin meeting still being discussed
A potential meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is still being negotiated, the Kremlin reportedly said Thursday.
“As for the content of the meeting, there is no agreed agenda,” Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Putin, told journalists, according to Reuters.
{mosads}The possibility of the two leaders meeting this week comes amidst Trump’s five-nation tour of Asia.
Both Putin and Trump will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vietnam.
Russia Today, the Russian state-owned news agency, cited an aide to Putin on Thursday as saying that the two leaders would meet at the summit on Friday.
Trump, during remarks in Beijing on Thursday, called for Russia’s help in curbing North Korean aggression.
“Time is quickly running out. We must act fast, and hopefully China will act faster and more effectively on this problem than anyone,” Trump said alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping. “I’m also calling on Russia to help rein in this potentially very tragic situation.”
