Pence talks regularly to Biden, Cheney: report
Vice President Pence regularly speaks with former Vice Presidents Joe Biden and Dick Cheney to exchange ideas and advice, sources close to the former vice presidents tell NBC News.
According to the NBC report, Pence speaks with Biden over the phone at least once a month, and has spoken with Cheney over the phone and at meetings in the White House. Pence and the past vice presidents reportedly discuss a number of issues including foreign and domestic policy, as well as what it looks like to serve as the vice president.
The regular conversations serve as a stark contrast to President Trump, who has not spoken with former President Obama since early this year, according to NBC News.
Pence said the quality he admires most in a vice president is the ability to take the vision of the president and “champion that on Capitol Hill.”
“And I would hope that my relationships over my 12 years in Congress and my four years here as governor of Indiana would help carry Donald Trump’s vision to make America great again to people who would be crafting the legislation to put that into practice,” he said at the time.
Biden and Pence met last year shortly after the election, with Biden giving Pence a tour of the Naval Observatory, the vice president’s residence.
