“But I want to tell you, and you know where I’m headed. Dec. 12 has always been a historic day for the Jones family. This is my and Louise’s 25th wedding anniversary. I could not have done this without her,” he continued.
The Associated Press called the race for Jones over Republican Roy Moore shortly before 10:30 p.m. EST
Jones took the stage just before 11 p.m., and thanked his family, staff and supporters.
Jones’s victory is considered a significant upset, as Alabama has not elected a Democrat to the Senate in 25 years.
