MSNBC host slams GOP over FBI attacks: ‘It’s making me crazy’
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace went after Republicans on Thursday over recent GOP attacks on the FBI, questioning why they would attack “Republican-led” law enforcement agencies.
Wallace, who served as White House communications director under former President George W. Bush, ripped Republicans for the “insurrection” against FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
“I can’t get my brain around the insurrection in the Republican Party against Republican-led law enforcement agencies,” Wallace said. “I can’t shove the round pegs into the square boxes.
“It’s making me crazy.”

The MSNBC host accused Republicans who have questioned the integrity of law enforcement agents of engaging in “tinfoil-hat conservatism.”
“It is a bit on the tin foil hat side of conservatism to sit there and think that Rod Rosenstein, who is a Trump appointee, who works for Jeff Sessions, also a Trump appointee, are part of some grand conspiracy,” Wallace added.
Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee sharply criticized the panel’s chairman, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), and other Republicans this week after a Politico report revealed a group of House Republicans had been quietly meeting for weeks to investigate claims that the FBI mishandled a dossier containing unverified claims about President Trump’s ties to Russia.
“I think what we are seeing in our committee … is an effort to attack the Department of Justice, an effort to attack the FBI, to attack [special counsel] Bob Mueller, is an effort to undermine the investigations and these institutions out of fear of what they’ll find and try to discredit them in advance,” said Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.), the top Democrat on the committee.
“It’s a pernicious thing to do that will ultimately inflict long-term damage on these institutions.”
