Dem rips Trump: ‘You only like law enforcement that is not investigating you’

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) ripped President Trump after he tweeted his appreciation for law enforcement, responding, “You only like law enforcement that is not investigating you.”

Trump on Tuesday recognized National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, sending a message to officers that he “will fight for you, and I will never, ever let you down.”

“Now, more than ever, we must support the men and women in blue!” Trump tweeted.

“Except the FBI,” Gallego retorted. “You only like law enforcement that is not investigating you.”

{mosads}Trump has repeatedly criticized the FBI over the investigation into whether his campaign colluded with Russia to win the election. He has also accused the agency of mishandling the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

He targeted FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, accusing him of being compromised because of his wife’s ties to prominent Democrats.

Republicans have also criticized the agency over revelations that an FBI agent was removed from the Russia probe after it was revealed that he sent anti-Trump texts during the 2016 campaign.

The president tweeted earlier in December that the FBI’s reputation is in “tatters,” and Republican lawmakers have also warned of partisan bias at the agency.
